Through our sense organs we take in the world around us.

Our smell connects us the earth element in all its manifestations
The sense of taste allows us to sense the element of water.
Through sight we ingest the the fire element.

When touched we are in contact with the wind element.
The sounds we hear connect us to the element of space.

Because of the correspondences between our sense organs and the elements, we are basically equipped to perceive all of creation - what a blessing.

The sense organs can be understood as the barriers to the outside world. When an impression is made through one of our sense organs, the energy of that impression enters our system. Because it has now become a part of our system, we have to deal with the impression - in some form or another. We call this process digestion, breaking down the impression to smaller pieces that can be used as building blocks for the maintenance of health and vitality. What ever is not needed is eliminated out of the system.

Central to the Ayurvedic wisdom is the notion that digestion is not only a process confined the food in our belly, but to everything that enters our system through the sense organs. In the same way that what we eat needs to be broken down in the belly to become available as energy for the body, what we see, hear, feel and smell is also digested and assimilation in our energetic, emotional and mental bodies. An interesting conversation «feeds» the mind. Images from a traumatic event becomes heavy food for our emotional body, that need slow chewing before they can be assimilated. A memorable smell can give us a “hit” of energy, comparable to a shot of espresso.

Every gram of our physical body and every facet of our mind is made up from what we have ingested, digested and assimilated through our senses. They say you are what you eat, but I may add: you are also what you hear, what you see, what you smell and what touches you.

So the question is: what are you ingesting?

In our time of accelerated artificial living, the sense impressions we have on a daily basis are less and less similar to the ones our systems have been designed to ingest. Contemplating how far removed we have become from nature in just a couple of generations, it is actually astounding that we are doing so well. And yet, there is so much to be gained by offering the mind and heart, body and soul sense impressions that match our original sense “diet”.

The wild smell of raw soil emanating as large rock in the forest is overturned.

The taste of a bitter leaf straight from its uncultivated branch.

An array of green light from the forest canopy dancing across our vision.

A gust of hot air sweeping bare skin, signifying the onset of summer.

The continuous sound of water trickling in a peaceful brook.

Natural sense impressions are like energetic stem-cells for our mind and body. So in this time of amplified transformation for anyone on the conscious path of healing and growth, choose your impressions with care. If you become what you sense - this is a time to be more like a deer entering an open glade deep in the forest, and less like a complicated ad entering your feed deep in your scroll.

Natures sensory spa has no opening hours and you already have a life time membership. All you have to do, is re-member.
